Another one of the illustrations I did last year for the book "Marvin Marbles - and the Prince of the Banned"
This scene here is when Marvin and his friend Greg get captured, along with a bunch of renegade "failed experiments" by the evil scientists. I love working in black and white, it was a huge stroke of luck that they let me do a whole book using just a black pencil (yes, most images still have some digital enhancement). And it was also great that they let me include images like this, that I thought they would find inappropiate for a children's book.

I included a huuuge reference to one of my older pictures here, let's see how many of you catch it :XD:

Marvin and all the characters are (c), so please don't .. urhm... don't do anything.

Oooo that's a scary illustration - the elongated scientists are out of this world. Very cool
Those are some very tall scientists. Very nice!

This is fantastic. I love the stretchy tall scientists and how isolated the guys are on that little platform. The lighting is really convicing as well and works very well with the texture of the wall. The only crit I would have is the pillar/cone/thingy is a little flat and blends into the wall behind it... It's not quite as polished and awesome looking as the rest of the image (which is to a very high standard.)

But yeah, fantastic mood in this, really engaging. And I'm blown away that this is mostly pencil. Really nice work.

*will so be buying the book when it comes out*

Really great (as always)! I love how the black & white makes the atmosphere perfectly menacing. You are amazing with b& w illustration.
