Artist's Comments

This is one of the illustrations I did last year for the book "Marvin Marbles - and the Prince of the Banned" (heh I had it wrong the last time ^^;). Here's Marvin in his not-too-fancy workshop, as the holo-postman delivers him the message calling him for duty.
I still very much believe black and white pictures don't raise much interest in deviant, but I wanted to post at least one as a test, out of curiosity :)

Marvin and all the characters are (c), so please don't .. urhm... don't do anything.

who cares if it's black-and-white instead of colored? the details in this are amazing. great perspective, all the attention to each piece in the workshop--they're great! definitely a fave! :D

I am a big fan of black and white, but in my opinion your style looks even better in color.

Personally, I think the b&w adds to the feel of this piece. Beautifully detailed, down to the static on the holo-messenger. :)

I'm the kind of person your mother warned you about.

I love how every little piece of detail in the surroundings gives you a little bit of insight into the character's personality.. Or I could just be way off.. O.o;

It is my humble opinion that black and white pictures need to receive more sweet graphite-appreciating love. Hee.

Anyway. Must say that I adore all the nutty little details in this, like the photographs and notes pinned on the wall. (And is that something vaguely bunny-shaped I spy floating off to the far right? Fabulous.) For want of a better way of putting it: there's an endearing and unmistakable aura of geek hovering about this drawing. It's that workshop feel, surely. Inventor vibe, certainly. Also, the angle you've chosen here is nifty - the perspective serves to add another facet of visual interest to an already eye-catching piece.

I love it, it is beautiful. I love black and white works, especially with so much detail in them. Color can destract from lines which have beauty all their own.
